The rules of the game baccarat

This card game is not too entertaining. It is not necessary to observe such interesting battles as in poker. However, baccarat is not the last place in the list of the most popular games today.

The History Of Baccarat

Many European countries (most often Italy and France) argue, which of them is the ancestor of this game. Unfortunately, it is not known for certain where baccarat appeared, because it happened a long time ago. There are many varieties, which further exacerbates the problem of finding the country-the ancestor of baccarat. So, in France for several centuries there is - "chemin de fer" (literally translated - "iron"), and in Spain "Punto Banko".
Among all theories, the most credible seems that, according to which game was invented by Felix Falguiere from Italy. In 1490 year first time baccarat appeared in France, and precisely she was the main entertainment for local aristocracy. The middle and especially the lower strata of the population at that time did not even know about it.
There is also a legend that says that Felix invented the game based on the Etruscan ritual of worshipping 9 gods. It consisted in the fact that the roll of the nine-sided dice decided the fate of the virgin. At the drop of 8 or 9 she was destined for the fate of the priestess. If she dropped 6 or 7, she was banned from participating in any religious activities. If the figure fell less than 6, the fate of the girl was deplorable – she was drowned in the sea. The scheme has survived to our days, only now instead of fate, people play for money.

The Rules Of Baccarat

Now take a closer look at all the rules of this game. Initially, in baccarat, players decided among themselves whether to take the third card. So, the goal of the game: to collect a combination of cards that will be as close as possible to 9 (ideally exactly 9).

The cards are counted as follows:

ACE-1 point
From king to ten – 0 points
From two to nine from the par value
If the sum is more than 10 points, then 10 is deducted from it. For example:
5+7=12 => 12-10=2;
2+8=10 => 10-10=0

Each participant must choose a bet from three options: player win, pot win, or draw. Before the start of each game, the banker and the player are given two cards. In some cases (more on that later) a third is issued.

These are General rules that are universal for any kind of baccarat. Now consider the more detailed rules of the American version (the most popular to date).

The game is played with 2 decks of cards. They are shuffled first by one of the participants, then by the banker (banker). He has the right to throw a certain number of cards, making the appropriate warning. On online tables, this function is performed by a program with a built-in random number generator.

The number of participants is not limited. They have the right to leave the table at any time. They can join only with the bankers permission.

  1. After shuffling the deck, the banker allows any participant to move the cards.
  2. Cards are dealt one at a time. The first circle-from left to right, the second from right to left. As a result, each ponter (so-called players) gets 2 cards.
  3. Before receiving any cards, the punter makes a bet. Its size is chosen by him.
  4. The banker must double every bet made.
  5. The hand of the banker has an advantage, because if the number of points matches, the victory goes to him. If he scores 9 (or 19) points, he immediately opens the cards and declares his victory.
  6. If one of the players scored 9 (19) points, and the banker 8, then this player gets his winnings. The banker takes the bets of the other players.
  7. If everyone has less than 8 points, then you can buy (take another card).
  8. The banker makes the purchase last.
  9. Cards are opened when the last participant has made his move.
  10. If ponter has 4 or less points, he takes the third card, if 5, then at his own discretion.
  11. The numbers 10,20 and 30 give some advantages.
Delving into these rules, you can make sure that the Bank always has an advantage over the usual punters. Therefore, when betting "on the Bank" is calculated Commission (it depends on the policy of the casino).
